Armed Robbery in the Middle of the Night

"On our third night of vacation in February of 2006 we were asleep when five armed men broke into our room. They entered our room screaming at us that they had a shotgun and would kill us if we did not cooperate. The other four men all had machetes and immediately approached us in our bed telling us to get up. We were screaming back at them to get out of our room, and to leave us alone. They insisted that we be quiet and told us no one was going to come to help us, they said the security guards were dead and no one would be coming for us. We continued to scream and resist them. Finally after they held a machete to my husband’s throat and the shotgun in his face I got out of bed. They told me to go to the safe and open it. I refused, and one man slapped me across the face. They took me to the closet where the safe was and tried to insist I go in with them. I would not. The man then punched me on the side of the head. In the meantime one of the men broke my husband’s toe. I went into the room and opened the safe and stepped back out of the closet, two men then went through our safe, and our belongings. They took all of our money, my cell phone, and a dive watch. They came back out of the closet and held me and looked over me with a flashlight checking for any jewelry. They made my husband give them his credit cards and all of the money he had on them. Once they had taken all of our money they ripped the phone out of the wall and they left.

We had been screaming at the top of our lungs the whole time and could not figure out why no one came. As we left the room and my husband ran around the resort screaming for help we realized that both of the guards had been bound and beaten and the robbers had broken into and ransacked the entire office, stealing both of the safes and many other items. Later when the police arrived they never went to our room, they never took photos, fingerprints, or even checked the room to see the damage they had done.  In fact, they never even spoke to my husband or me.

To this day, we have yet to hear from a single police official from St. Lucia. Before we left he island my husband informed the resort owner and the chief of police, who was eating dinner with the resort owner, that we would be more than willing to come back to St. Lucia, at our own expense, to help identify, and get a conviction on these men. We were stunned and in shock when we heard that they had suspects in custody and never bothered to contact us or send us their photos, so we might have an opportunity to identify them."
