"For unexplained reasons, the Castries and Soufriere incidents have been kept under wraps. The authorities are reluctant to comment on the matter. The police press office has been uncharacteristically silent as well."
-St. Lucia STAR Wednesday, June 21, 2006
After we were attacked we were supposed to be put in contact with a reporter. The reporter called the hotel to speak with us. The hotel management told them we were no longer there. In fact, we were still at the hotel reporting our story to the police. Furthermore, the reporter was told not to report our story from a St. Lucian government official. He never tried to contact us again. Finally, weeks later we found the St. Lucia STAR editor, who was brave enough to let St. Lucians know about the cover up.
Consequently, our story was posted on the July 5th Edition of the St. Lucia Star.

"Let me ask you a question now: what do you think would happen if a European couple honeymooning at Disneyworld was beaten and raped in their hotel room by a couple of locals who had broken into their room during the dead of night?
Would that event be concealed by hotel management? Would the police hesitate to become involved? Would the local media pass on the story for fear of upsetting the local travel bureau? Say for a minute that all of this DID happen- what do you think the American media would do when they discovered that hotel management, city officials and local police had conspired to keep reports of the incident out of the papers for fear it would hurt business, only to find that the same thing happened to two more travelers two months later?"
